Dan Bruder is, first and foremost, a writer. Whether through The Gumbottom Chronicles, his autobiographical work Glimpses from the Edge, or the many stories woven into his music, he approaches storytelling as both an observer and a scribe, drawn to moments where history feels uncertain and alive. He always strives to bring those moments to life through immersive, character-driven storytelling that invites readers to experience history as it unfolds and encourages them to explore each event more deeply.
Much of his perspective has been shaped by a career leading corporate executive search and government relations efforts, where he witnessed how critical decisions are made and how human complexity shapes outcomes. Early in his career, he served as a Deposition Editor on the Agent Orange litigation, an experience that instilled a lasting respect for accuracy, context, and the importance of every story being told. During the Obama administration, he was appointed to rebuild recruitment for the United States Peace Corps, helping the agency achieve the strongest recruiting results in its history, with his practices later adopted by the White House and more than 40 federal agencies.
In addition to his writing, Dan has created an online series that reached over 14 million monthly viewers and has produced several music albums.
He lives in New Jersey with his wonderful and very tolerant wife and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
